Welcome, May!

Monday, May 07, 2018

May might just be my favorite month out of the entire year. The weather is insanely mood-lifting and it's still way too early for the end-of-summer scarys. It's like the Friday night of a weekend — all good things ahead.

We're entering month two of Mark's recovery from back surgery and falling into a good rhythm as he improves every day. He's at a point now where he is semi-active and not house-bound, so we're able to get out and enjoy things close to home. On one such excursion, we discovered a nature preserve near our house with beautiful tree-lined trails leading all around the lake. We've been making an effort to enjoy how many awesome places we have close by. There are like five parks within ten minutes of our house and several state parks nearby. We've been so occupied with the house remodel that we haven't done a good job of exploring our town, so we're trying to change that this spring!

I majorly fell off the workout wagon this winter and really haven't been in a good routine since stopping BBG last year. The Tone It Up Bikini Series starts today, though, and I'm really going to try to give it a go. If anyone wants to do it with me, I could use an accountability partner! I'm going to do my best to get into a routine before summer.

Speaking of, Memorial Day is just a few weeks away which means our anniversary is coming up. Somehow five years of marriage flew by! We're still tossing around ideas of ways to celebrate but may end up just sticking close to home. We've been spending a lot of time at the lake lately and I don't hate just sitting somewhere and reading a book. It's a good excuse to work my way through the stack of books I've been neglecting. I just finished Little Fires Everywhere and am starting American Fire now.

What fun things do you have planned for this month?
